3 days of Summer. Outfit #2 Boho Chic Muse

IMG_4143
Wohow!!! today as of  Thursday the 12th of June it is officially the start of World Cup in Brazil. We've been ready for awhile now here in Haiti with flood of different flags being displayed to be purchased from the streets vendors. There were more of a blending colors of Yellow, Green, Blue and White because Haitians are hardcore fans of  Brazil and Argentina Team. Now although I don't watch soccer that much, I would lie to say that the excitement of this current event didn't hit me as well. Advertisements about it are everywhere, it's hard not to be HIT by it so might as welll get excited with the rest of the crowd.

Trends comes and go but the classic trends that inspired this outfit is the slick denim on denim outfit trends. With that being I played the same rule applied to the denim/denim outfit and spread the entire universe with a rainbow of sunshine....Haha Just kidding. Since summer is felt as we are approaching vacations period, a flowy flower loose top was my choice to paired it with my colored skinny jeans. To dress it up a bit, I contrasted the color with a pair of nude pumps from Jessica Simpson then I cuffed up the legs of my jeans and there I am ready to spread around that rainbow of shunshine. I am not really a matchy matchy color girl which means I love to mix in colors choice of clothings and love to mix accessories as well but like everything this outfit makes the exception.

Why don't you stay for the remaining outfit from this 3 days of yellow colored pants remix? Ha!

3 days of Summer, Oufit #1 "The Saturday"

IMG_4159

We may have had a bit of cold weather during the year but it's nothing a light cardigan couldn't handle. In fact we complain more about the rising heat with folks saying things such as « Mezanmi gadon chalè » translated into « My goodness, what a heat ? ». You can only escape that heat by staying hydrated, staying indoors with the AC or Fan on but if you only stay indoors, you're missing out on making memories....and getting the billls paid -__-

Hey I am human too

Sunday night after I came back home from an outdoor concert, my spirit and the high echo of my laughter were just strangely moping around the hallways of my home and I was almost in the verge of tears. I felt as if a robber came through me during the event of that concert and internally rob me of my peace. So dramatically put but that's how I felt when in reality the eyes of my understanding of some aspect of my life were just unfolding themselves to me....

♡ Pink Friday and 22 Facts

Helllo Good day yall. Summer days are rather light these days so I am enjoying my days off from school. The break is well needed so I am doing what I can to enjoy until I can no longer do it anymore., I am enjoying it before I can no longer do it haha. I still have a lot to do for work but I would rather for it to stay that way despites being tired occasionaly. I wanted to post 50 facts about me along with an outfit post buttt I realized that it might be way too long to read so I cut the list down to 22 instead. I hope it entertains you and you get the chance to know me a little. So why don't we all get started with that. ✌

1- I was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti resided in the upper town of Port-Au-Prince which is Petion-Ville for most of my childhood days.

2-I went to a Catholic all girls school up until 4th grade, it's great to brag about it to your friends like  "J'ai Ă©tĂ© chez les soeurs de SFA" but I am glad it was a short journey.

A story of No can do, cans and other possibilities

Last Friday of 12th July 2013 was the end of my first year attending College here in Port-Au-Prince. The experiences were expected to be a ride of tears and joy. Needless to say, it was a challenge and a surprise that led me choose marketing as my major. The beggining of the second semester was an exploration to me since I would attend my Marketing courses and International Relations courses as well. Of course my Marketing peers thought that I've gone completly crazy by trying to attend opposites lectures but the "adventurious side" in me wanted to expand my horizons by exploring my limits and interests. The International Relations courses were interesting considering how heavy and compensed the materials were. That one particular course of Comtemporary History was interesting as well since the professor just kept splitting his lecture half into a mouthful of how he hated Religion all together, how he would not even classify himself as an atheist and the little remaining of class he'd remember to go on with his lecture only to bomb his students in his exams.

Red...The Bold

I've been inspired by the cheezy holiday of Valentine's day to recreate this fun and girly look for a date, or a night out with the girls. It is no secret to know that I am quite the girly one and instead of pairing this cute frilly top with a pair of jeans, like I would normally do, I decided to change it dramastically by adding some hue to my color palette. That is right, I decided to wear red colored skinny pants. Although it sounded like a great idea to me then at the moment that I have purchase them, nothing could compare to the wave of doubts that came to mind such as "Will people take me seriously with red pants? Will I be able to wear these without being obnoxious? Will I be classified as the Haitian hipster? So much questions until I dig in the closet to try matching with a less loud hue color.  photo 6f327589-02ae-4680-910c-ae8293e46495_zps13f3a3f4.jpg photo d1a11657-3a67-40d4-a380-ecd108cd7ba0_zps40419a6f.jpg

photo IMG_1260_zps25db5d2b.jpgEveyrone has different ways of wearing them, some people wear them best with crop shirts, some people may wear the top inside the pants for a high waist look, others with loose sweater with boots, but right now it  definitely works out much better with longer but fitted top.It shows off curves softlty  without being too much in your face. In my imagination a long yellow mustard cardigan would be great to the color palette but I don't know where I have placed that cardigan. Long peach color pearls were added since the top has a lot going on itself. And for once I wore ballets flats.am wearing ballet flats.

22 in fiesty red and a Happy New Year

IMG_0685
I would love to wish you all of you nice friend who read my blog a Happy New Year. We know for a fact that a New Year does'nt bring any changes. In fact we are the ones responsible to live our lives and create the changes ourselves. I am not going through the details about the rituals of a New Year but so far I know that I want to keep working hard in school and keep up with my starting job here in Haiti.
Well I don't think there is a rule against posting my fiesty red holidays photography therefore I am doing it. In retrospective, my Christmas break was wonderful, it was also the month of my birthday as well. And so RED was in the honor of being 22 and for the rest of the Chrsitmas season. Since the starts of my 20s I have had an slight obsession with flowing short dress because its my way of showing off my long legs. With this little red number, sometimes I have to pair it up with black opaque tights, depending on where I am going. Or to jazz it up a bit I add a scarf of a great noticing colors across the dress instead. This dress can be worn in so different ways for style.IMG_0686

It was an instant hit through the Haitian crowd (Haha love how I talk about this dress as if it was a song) since I received many compliments from it. Do you want to know a shocking secret about this dress?
Ah! I don't think you're ready to hear it. Ok fine, I am giving in. My mother was the one who first saw this dress and didnt stay silent about how it was the IT dress for my 22nd. I looked at the dress that hung nicely on the shop rack and I replied with a nonchallent "Hmm sure" while exploring other racks. But for some reasons, I kept going back to my mom's choice and decided to give it a chance until I put it on and then....the rest is now a beautiful love story.

Petite Black Dress in the rain

coolio cats There aren't much things going on for me this week because of the troublesome passage of hurricane Sandy in Haiti. From the recent news that I've been getting, it has left 29 people dead with four missing and it is also worst than the passage of Isaac and Thomas. With Hurricane Isaac there were strong winds but with Sandy there were a lot of rain, one minutes it starts pouring the next minute it gives you the wrong impression that it has stopped. There weren't any damages in my area but I have yet to see the rest of the city once I get the chance to go out in the following days coming. Since I stayed home from school for two days I took the time to do a little studying over some Economics concepts that sounded foreign to me but with the help of a friend I understood them and called the rest of the day for relaxation. Since there were nowhere to go yet a lot of things to do (haha)  I thought of unwinding my mind by dressing up and have a mini photo shoot under the droplets from the remaining of Sandy. What I love about small fitted denim jacket is how appealing and edgy they make an outfit look. Since the awful heat weather cooled down in Haiti, when the air gets breezy, I wear it with my uniform to go to school.

How Hard do you want it...Sophie's Edition

belle jeune fille, polka dot dress, haiti living, It's been stated in the beginning of this blog on the About Me section that I was transitioning from the Sunshine State Florida to my tropical Home, Haiti in Port-Au-Prince. This 30th of past September marked a year since I moved back and from my time frame here it's been one ride full of transitions to say the least. For the year that I've been back, I never thought that I would get culture shock since I had a good case of in 2004 as a Freshman in High School and because I was in Port-Au-Prince for the summer in 2011 but little did I know I had it. I grew to realize that vacationing in a place and living in that same place are two different things,so it's only normal that I experienced these slight changes after all.
belle jeune fille, haiti's finest, haitian american, young woman,
Among these changes came the decision of continuing my education here in Haiti while I am working. I had to get rid of the stigmata of being reserved and shy to market myself and integrate into communities and networking as well. Little by little I have no choice but to work on outgrowing my shyness.Besides being a little off from inspiration and out of electricity sometimes, these past few months I spent a lot of my time getting ready for admissions exams to get in a good University. The good news is that I got in and already have lots of work to do, researches on top of researches.

One thing that I like about my schedule is that I have a good time to study after each classes rather than trying to squeeze time to study for all my classes. Speech is among the principal outlet in most of my classes a way for us to break from our comfort zone so there is no way to escape exposing yourself and be a little vulnerable in front of million little eyes.  (Ok I am exaggerating)
Haitian-American, living in Haiti, University system in Haiti, my experiences
Haiti may go through a lot of difficult times but some of us in Universities are giving our all and our best.
