A story of No can do, cans and other possibilities

Last Friday of 12th July 2013 was the end of my first year attending College here in Port-Au-Prince. The experiences were expected to be a ride of tears and joy. Needless to say, it was a challenge and a surprise that led me choose marketing as my major. The beggining of the second semester was an exploration to me since I would attend my Marketing courses and International Relations courses as well. Of course my Marketing peers thought that I've gone completly crazy by trying to attend opposites lectures but the "adventurious side" in me wanted to expand my horizons by exploring my limits and interests. The International Relations courses were interesting considering how heavy and compensed the materials were. That one particular course of Comtemporary History was interesting as well since the professor just kept splitting his lecture half into a mouthful of how he hated Religion all together, how he would not even classify himself as an atheist and the little remaining of class he'd remember to go on with his lecture only to bomb his students in his exams.

Revival of the arts

This is probably the first sentence of the post where I explain why I haven't been active in the blog world at all. I faced problems with my laptop and it led my illustrations to take a back seat but I admit missing blogging about my arts. In the mean time I would love to thank each and everyone of you who took the time to visit the blog and checked out my previous entries and told me how they appreciated my illustrations and believe me I will take the time to visit your little place as well.

Ahhh you know these lovely ladies above my from previous posts but I wanted to stick them all together just for the fun of it.

I believe

La Lumiere du jour

My Faith in God is something in my life that I've been sure of since I was Fourteen .Just like a name that was carved with love into a tree I feel that my name is also engrave in God's heart. He knew me very well, before he formed me in the womb and I feel undeserved of his unconditional love. But I let him pour his blessings and goodness upon me everyday and strive to be and love more like him...even if I stumble sometimes.

Without any conceited and boastful thoughts, I can say that I believe that I am beautiful. In more explicit words I am this beautiful mess created to encourage, to create, to encourage, to love and to be love.

I believe in getting my tummy pinched by thousands butterflies at the thought of someone choosing to love me, being thought of and being missed.

I believe in a great loud roaring laughter with family, friends and even stranger. Laughing is always the guest of honor in my schedules, it brings out this energy from inside of me that makes me feel great for a good amount of time. So I'll just go ahead and do some more laughing while I am at it. Haha

I believe I can fall in love again at the time I am least expecting it. Cheesy but some cheesy are just all right too.

I believe that I should actually LOVE what I do as a living and LIVE the life that I want to live in accordance to God.

I believe there is no limit nor age to learn for knowledge is power and Ignorance is sadly but indeed bliss.

Just Like Audrey Hepburn stated, I believe in Pink. I am not really sure what is it about this color that can be loved {and hated} by many but although I love colorful things, a soft tone pink theme does it for me.

I believe that I can be a better human each day and I also believe that this line was pretty lame of me haha.

I believe in documenting life, setting goals and more importantly achieving them while learning from mistakes along the line. Mistakes are not something to be 100% proud of but let's face it, we learn from them and they have their lessons.

Colors of the wind

I am sure by now that my liking for stripes is publicly known. With fall approaching it will give me plenty of reasons to wear cute sweaters and let us not forget the excuse to finally wear boots. This is what I wore on this mighty Wednesday. IMG_6632

Normally I can the green top underneath by itself but that little darling of sweater was a better companion to jazz it. I use that word quite often don't I. I need to find another word.

A beautiful and true you-

A beautiful and true you
I was taken by a great amount of inspiration from the settings, the decor, the flowing gown that Selena was wearing in her video "Who says" and all of the phase from that storytelling video  It led me to kick in with my own creative side which led me to illustrate and add to the line of Cupcakes And Notes a fabulous gal who goes by the name of Colline.
IMG_6536Colline is dressed in a purple flowing night gown with plenty of cute ruffle for the wedding of her spoiled and big sister's wedding. She was chosen by her sister to be the Maid of honor because of that unbreakable bond they shared throughout their adult life. Instead of being bossed of what to wear, Colline was surprised but delighted to know that she could choose the dress that she wanted to wear...of course with her sister's eyes approval. During the ceremony she counted in her head all the fabulous...and ugly dresses she had to wear for the year that had wedding bells written all over it and this dress had been the 10th one by far. "Well that isn't too bad is it, am I considered to be a bridesmaid-aholic for always being nice to these ladies" She thought as a way to defend her choices but since she could no longer do anything with the gown after the ceremony she decided to have a creative photo shoot.

Stripes yourself

IMG_6594I've always own a pair of leggings however I've been a bit hesitant to wear them because I can't see myself substituting leggings for pants. In the desperate need to come up with outfit ideas from magazines and blog I've noticed that leggings can be worn without them being pants. Oh! what a relief I thought because leggings can be fantastic when they are worn with elegance and class. Now trying to execute it from the brain to my body seemed to be a real challenge until I remembered my stripes lace dress et me voici :)

I honestly couldn't believe that this pair of black tight could go well with my frame to give me that svelte silhouette. As I am contemplating the look I decided to add a  long button down shirt underneath the dress just for the sake of that sophisticated look that I was looking for.

Although my skinny jeans and I we seemed to be glued at the hip I like to jazz it up by wearing dresses, skirts and go on with my day.

Style is eternal featuring Valentina {Archives}

Valentina and I been friends since our childhood days in Haiti. We met in our school bus when I was a second grader and she was in 6th grade. Although we were in the same school bus we went attended two different schools. What I remember from her from the past is that everyone on the bus were drawn to her because of her smile, she was easy to talk to and definitely outgoing. We've grown up to have our unique taste in style and thought of playing the role of interviewing her on her style. Enjoy :)

S:What were the first things or piece of clothing that inspired you into fashion as a child?
Valentina: To tell you honnestly, it wasn't an artist from tv nor a model. It was from my God-Mother; my mother's sister who was always a fashionable icon to me. She used to wear her high heels and even made her own clothes, sometimes she used to make clothes for me as well, therefore her style led me to be a Fashionista. One thing that I remembered about her is that she had the style of Marilyn Monroe

S: It came straight from your family which is a great start to your confidence. I've always been a fan of Marilyn Monroe for her glamorous style and because she represents us curvy ladies.
Valentina: Yes me too and I remembered as I was growing up I had many shade of style...in fact...I follow fashion to the core...I love everything there is in Fashion even if its made in plastic I am in. I am what you would call Fashion Victim.

S: Are you serious? you're making me laugh. Can you regroup any similarities and differences from your style of yesterday at the time you were in Haiti to your style now as you're living in Canada?
Valentina : In Haiti I had more of a chill type. However in Canada my style became a mixture of glamour, rock and trendy. It all comes down to the way that I am feeling.

S: What is your favorite season of the year to play out with your clothes?
Valentina: Humm I would say that fall season because it's neither too hot nor too cold. I love wearing my boots, and my leggings and dresses as well. It gives me bigger options to dress up with clothes and do more mixing.

S: Who are your favorite icons?
Valentina: The Olsen Twins, Victoria Beckam, Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson and my love RIRI (Rihanna) :)

S: What inspires your fashion looking photos because whenever I stalk your Facebook albums, I feel like they are telling a story about a girl who's living her life, they are just fun to look at.
Valentina: I think you just answered that question without your knowing because you're right, the pictures are about a girl who's living her life. It's my philosophy to live life in the moment. So I always make sure to enjoy my life as much as possible because we don't know what the future hold, we are young once and before we know it, it's all gone. love taking pictures of myself because I feel like it immortalize the moment that I am portraying and it will be a great reference for me when I look back at my youth when I get older. I want to feel that I've lived my life to the fullest by looking at them.

S: What are the quotes that you live by?
Valentina: "La vie est trop courte pour ne pas en profiter".
"Vie dans le moment present car on ne sais pas ce que le futur nous reserves." translating to
"Life is too short to let it pass you by"
"Live in the moment for we do not know what the future may hold for us"

S:I am going out on a date with my wonderful guy and I want the outfit to be fun, girly, a bit trendy but I don't want to wear any jeans at all. What would
you recommend me

Valentina: I would tell you to go with leather leggings that goes to your ankle (because it allows you to be comfortable and sexy) with high shoes but more of a wedge shoe. For your top, I see you more with a beige color rather long but not too high, not too tight with straps because guys find it sexy and it gives you that feminine allure that you are looking for and in case it gets cold you can always add a little cute cover up with that. In the accessories side I would say a necklace with earnings in gold with a bracelet and ring made in gold as well. For your make-up as far as I am concerned from I know that guys love it when girls are simple so I'd go with a natural light make-up, like no one will notice your make-up because it's not heavy :)

Thank you for your time Miss Valentina
I hope you always stay true to your beautiful personality and your personal style

I am sure everyone is complaining about summer ending too soon but you know deep down you were getting annoyed by that awful heat, humidity and what not. And so I am up in my little studio illustrating my ideas of perfect fall wardrobe but until then I leave you with these simple yet great style for your 2011 fall and winter.

All right, I admit that I do have a major things for stripes!
